Finding the Best Deal and Getting the Most of Your Budget

How do you get the best deal on a Couples Resorts vacation? With all the different specials, room types and on season/off season deals – how can you max out your budget and still have a fabulous vacation?

Book Early

First, the earlier you book, the more money you will save. Couples will gradually raise the price per night as the calendar approaches a given season.

Many repeat guests will book their trip a year or more in advance to maximize the savings.

However, planning a vacation a year or more in advance can be daunting – especially if you have a job where getting vacation time is difficult or hard to nail down – if this sounds like you, keep reading to find out more ways to save money!

Wait for the Specials

If it’s difficult to book early, the next option is to sign up for the Couples email and watch for the specials.

A typical special will include a 6th night free, or resort credit and sometimes both.

However, many times a special will coincide with a slight cost increase per night and require a minimum number of nights to maximize the benefit – which means that unless you are staying for 10 or more nights, you will typically save more money by booking early than if you wait for a special.

Don’t worry if you booked early and suddenly a special appears that will save you money – you can always contact Couples and they will match or beat the advertised price if you are already booked.

Are You Special?

Couples offers several discounts for teachers, veterans, groups and members of the armed forces. Check their web site to see if they offer a special discount for you.

Travel in the Off Season

Looking to book a trip in February and finding the prices a bit high for your taste? Late December through May is the high season for travel to Jamaica. The rates are highest in January through April and Couples does not offer very many specials for the high season.

The prices and specials begin to drop and get better around May. You will see free night specials showing up for summer travel into late December.

August/September are the cheapest months to travel to Couples but come with an increased risk of hurricanes and tropical storms. We have traveled during these months and had zero problems and little rain – but we also made sure to purchase travel insurance.

Book the cheapest room, for the longest amount of time

Trust me on this one. It’s tempting to look at the pictures on the web site and feel like you really, really need the fabulous ocean view from your room – But if time is not an issue, but your budget is, then you should book the cheapest room for as many nights as you can afford.

The reason is simple – you will spend very little time in your room and every room at a Couple’s resort features the same comfortable mattresses, bedding and amenities. There also are no “Levels” like at the superclubs – all Couples guests receive the exact same resort amenities no matter which room you book.

The one exception is Tower Island – where the small amount of extra money can be worth it for an ocean view vs garden view but you should not give up an extra night for ocean view at any resort.

Book Through a Travel Agent

It can be worth your time to give a travel agent a call to see if they can offer a better price.

Booking through another website

I have done this in the past with mixed results – in the end I did not save any money and it was a bit of a hassle to deal with a middleman instead of just being able to contact the resort directly for my reservation.

However, it may be worth your time to get a price online, then contact Couples to see if they will match the price for you.

Travel At the Last Minute

If you are reading this and you’re looking to go on a trip very soon, you may be in luck.

Tower Island from the main beach

Couples offers last minute specials for certain weeks at certain resorts. This can be a great way to save some money at the last minute.
