How To Pick a Room Type at Couples Swept Away

With 8 different room types and several different blocks – choosing a room type at Couples Swept Away can be a bit difficult.

Do you want quiet? Close to the beach? Or a Pool? Do you want to sit on a large balcony all day listening to the breeze and the birds.

Couples Swept Away

Fortunately, Swept Away is a bit simpler than Couples Sans Souci which has a lot of stairs to factor in but price and quiet become bigger factors for rooms at Swept Away.

At all Couples Resorts – all guests receive all of the same resort amenities no matter which room you book. There are no “levels” like at the superclubs and each room has the same comfortable mattress, linens, stocked mini-bar and is kept impeccably clean.

At some all inclusive resorts, you pay for every add on – even umbrellas! NOT At Couples Resorts.

When you upgrade your room, you are upgrading the size – including the bathroom – the view, and proximity to the beach.

First, consider the budget

As mentioned in a previous post – if your budget is constrained by money, but not time – then you should book the cheapest room for the longest amount of time. You will appreciate another day at this resort more than you will an ocean view. Trust me on this one.

At Couples Swept Away, these are the Garden Verandah Suites:

Overlooking the resort’s lush tropical gardens, our Garden Verandah Suites have private furnished balconies, terra cotta tile floors and French doors with cedar shutters. They are located along the resorts perimeter in close proximity to the entrance and the road.

As you might guess – this means you might get a bit of noise from the traffic in these rooms. This isn’t really a problem in Negril though because things tend to settle down at night in this sleepy beach town so getting a good nights sleep shouldn’t be a problem.

Great House

The great house is the very large building on the grounds that contain several restaurants, night club and a swim up bar.

The Great House has the Great House Verandah Suites. These rooms offer partial views of the ocean so if an ocean view is what you are looking for – these are good cheap alternatives.

The one draw back is they can be a bit noisy since they are close to everything.

On the other hand – if you plan to stay out late at the night club or in the piano bar – this is a great location as you are close to all the action.

The Great House also has Great House Ocean Suites. Which are larger versions of the Verandah Suites with very large balconies, luxurious bathrooms with separate shower and tub and a wet bar.

Atrium Suites

Located in the smaller buildings on the property between the lobby and the beach, Atrium Suites exude classic Caribbean style. Surrounded by tropical foliage, these restful accommodations feature soaring cedar ceilings, wrap-around shutters, and private furnished balconies with hammocks. With no television, there’s nothing to detract from your island getaway.

I’ll repeat that last line just in case you didn’t read it – With no television, there’s nothing to detract from your island getaway.

The suites are wonderful and are what I consider the classical Caribbean accommodations. Many people request their favorite suite months in advance so these rooms sell out fast.

Ocean Suites

The Ocean Verandah Suites are (you guessed it) – exactly the same as the Garden Verandah Suites except they are in buildings closer to the beach.

This means you may have a partial view of the ocean and a nice ocean breeze to cool you off in the evenings.

It really depends on which block and room you get as to how great the view is and exactly how close you are to the beach.

Beachfront Verandah Suite!

If you are looking for a beachfront vacation where you can just walk straight out the ocean – then you finally found it!

The Beachfront Verandah Suite at Couples Swept Away is the (almost) the ultimate in beachfront luxury with French doors leading to expansive private balconies overlooking the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Just steps from the sand, these suites are located on the first, second, and third floors.

These suites are worth every penny! The views and the location are amazing.

But…. These are still not the best room at Couples Swept Away – it gets even better.
